Adult ball pits used to feel like a novelty. Then Instagram happened, corporate teams started booking them for retreats, and wedding planners in Montreal quietly realised they made a better photo backdrop than a rented flower wall. Now they show up at bridal showers on the Plateau, brand activations in Griffintown lofts, 30th birthdays on rooftops, and product-launch parties across the South Shore.
This guide is the honest version — sizes that actually fit adults, which package to pick for which event, what Montreal venues we set up in most often, what's allowed in the pit, pricing, and how to lock in a date. If you're planning an adult ball pit rental in Montreal for a corporate event, wedding, engagement party or milestone birthday, this covers the practical questions we get asked every week.
Who's booking adult ball pits in Greater Montreal
The demand pattern is clear. In the last year we've delivered adult-sized setups for:
- Corporate team activations — end-of-quarter celebrations, product launches, employee-appreciation events. Almost always Griffintown, Old Port or downtown Montreal loft spaces; occasionally at company HQs on the South Shore.
- Wedding-adjacent events — engagement parties, bridal showers, bachelorettes, and (increasingly) the wedding reception itself as a photo lounge alongside the bar.
- Milestone birthdays — 30ths and 40ths mostly, some 50ths. Split roughly evenly between at-home hosts (bigger houses across Laval, the West Island and the South Shore) and rented venues.
- Brand and content activations — one-day setups for Instagram, TikTok and press events where the ball pit is the photo op. These are usually in Griffintown or Old Port.
The through-line: the ball pit is doing double duty as a piece of playful decor and a photo backdrop that people actually queue up for. That's why it works for events where a rented step-and-repeat wall would feel corporate and a photo booth would feel dated.
Do the ball pits actually fit adults?
Yes — and the physics of it matters. Every Happi Hop ball pit is a soft-sided enclosure with foam floor mats. The load isn't a single point; it's distributed across the whole footprint. Adults sit, lie, pose and pile in for group photos regularly, at every one of the events above.
The practical constraint isn't individual weight — it's how many adults comfortably fit in the enclosure at once, without spilling over the walls. For adult events the answer is size up:
- The Little Hop (5-ft round, $350) — fine for one or two adults at a time, best used as an accent piece or a solo photo op at a smaller event.
- The Classic Hop (6×6 ft, $450) — comfortable for 2–3 adults; the crowd rotates through for photos.
- The Clear Hop (7×7 ft, $550) — the sweet spot for weddings and brand activations. Clear walls read as premium in photos and can hold 3–4 adults easily.
- The Grand Hop (8×8 ft, $750) — the choice for larger corporate events and receptions. Holds a group for a photo, or several adults comfortably at once.
Popular Montreal venues we set up in for adult events
We deliver across the full Greater Montreal region, but a few venue types recur constantly on the adult side:
- Griffintown and Old Port loft spaces — the go-to for brand activations, product launches, and cocktail-style receptions. Elevator access is standard; we build the setup time into the delivery window.
- Downtown Montreal condo party rooms — for engagement parties and milestone birthdays hosted by residents. Building rules vary — we ask about the loading dock and elevator access when you book.
- Rooftop terraces — spectacular for weddings and evening events. We need a flat, level surface and a covered contingency if rain is forecast.
- South Shore private homes — Brossard, Longueuil, Boucherville, Saint-Lambert. Bigger backyards and finished basements are ideal, and we're 15–30 minutes from most addresses.
- West Island and Laval private homes — larger family homes with the space for the Grand Hop; typically 30–50 minutes from our Brossard base.
- Restaurant private rooms and rented salle de réception — for adult birthdays and small corporate gatherings. We coordinate with the venue on delivery timing.
See the full South Shore and Montreal Island service pages for city-specific delivery details.
What's different about an adult ball pit setup
The equipment is the same, but a few operational things change once the guest list is over 18:
- Setup time is a bit longer for larger venues (typically 45–60 minutes for the Clear Hop or Grand Hop in a loft space, versus 30–45 for a family home).
- Photo access is designed in — we position the pit so it's not up against a wall, giving your photographer a clear line for the shot.
- No food or drink inside the pit — a hard rule (see the FAQ below). Guests hold drinks around the pit for photos, then step in.
- Custom vinyl decal (+$75) is the add-on that adult events use most — personalised with the couple's names, the brand, the milestone number, or the event hashtag. It doubles as a photo backdrop.
- End-of-event pickup can be scheduled late for evening events. We coordinate the exact time when you confirm.

Yes. Our ball pits are soft-sided enclosures with foam floor mats — they distribute weight evenly across the whole footprint rather than sitting on a single load-bearing point. Adults sit, lie, and pose in them regularly for photos at corporate and wedding events. The practical limit is on how many adults comfortably fit in the enclosure at once, not on individual weight. For a large group, size up to the 7×7-ft Clear Hop or 8×8-ft Grand Hop.
For adult events, we recommend either The Clear Hop ($550, 7×7 ft with clear walls — the most photogenic option and a huge draw at weddings and brand activations) or The Grand Hop ($750, 8×8 ft premium setup for corporate and larger receptions). The 5-ft Little Hop works for intimate groups or as a photo-op accent piece.
Yes. We regularly set up in Griffintown and Old Port loft spaces, rooftop terraces, downtown condo party rooms, restaurant private rooms, and rented hotel event halls. We just need a flat, clear area (minimum 3 m × 3 m for the smallest package, larger for premium sizes), elevator access (or ground-floor access), and about 45–60 minutes for setup before your guests arrive.
Adult events use the same four package tiers as our children's rentals: The Little Hop ($350 CAD), The Classic Hop ($450), The Clear Hop ($550), and The Grand Hop ($750). Delivery, professional setup and end-of-event breakdown are included in every quote. Delivery fees range from $50 (Brossard) to about $65 (Montreal Island, Laval) depending on your venue address. Taxes are added at invoicing. A $100 CAD deposit confirms the date at booking.
No — for the ball pit itself. Alcohol, open drinks, and food are not permitted inside the enclosure to keep the setup clean for the next event. Guests are welcome to hold drinks around the pit for photos, and food/beverage service works normally at the surrounding venue. We deep-clean and sanitise every ball and every surface between rentals.
Weekends fill up fast, especially May through September (wedding season). We recommend 3–4 weeks of lead time for weekend adult events, and 6–8 weeks during peak wedding and holiday season (May–August, December). Corporate weekday activations can often be booked with 1–2 weeks of notice. Book at happihop.ca/book or email happi.hop.softplay@gmail.com.
Yes — we serve all of Greater Montreal for adult events, including the full South Shore (Brossard, Longueuil, Saint-Lambert, La Prairie, Boucherville, Saint-Bruno-de-Montarville, Greenfield Park), Montreal Island (all boroughs), Laval, Repentigny and Terrebonne on the North Shore. Wedding venues on the South Shore and country properties within about 45 minutes of Brossard are all in range. Ask about anywhere else — we extend on request.
